Position Overview – Pricing Specialist (Air & Ocean)
This role is ideal for either:
- An experienced Pricing Specialist with both air and ocean knowledge, or
- An Operations Coordinator (air & ocean) looking to transition into a pure pricing role.
The successful candidate will focus exclusively on pricing — producing accurate quotations, supporting commercial activity, and ensuring consistency across all modes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive air and ocean freight quotations for import and export enquiries.
- Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, co‑loaders, and overseas partners to obtain rates and service options.
- Analyse cost structures to ensure profitability and commercial viability.
- Support the sales team with tailored pricing solutions for key accounts and new business opportunities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date rate sheets, tariffs, and carrier contracts.
- Respond to pricing requests within agreed timeframes, ensuring high levels of service and accuracy.
- Monitor market trends, rate fluctuations, and capacity changes across air and ocean trade lanes.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all pricing activity aligns with company policies and BIFA STCs.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
- Proven experience in both air and ocean freight (pricing or operations).
- Strong understanding of international freight processes, carriers, and rate structures.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to negotiate rates with suppliers.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple pricing requests simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a dedicated pricing or commercial role.
- Knowledge of time‑critical or express logistics.
- Familiarity with global agent networks and overseas rate procurement.
