Operations Manager – Job Information 

Looking for an experienced (ideally 7+ years) person who can lead our operations team of four people, improve efficiency, and act as the go-to person for operational and technical support. In the LHR area or happy to commute as the role will be minimum 4 days in the office.

Main responsibilities

• Manage and prioritise workload across the ops team.
• Distribute jobs to the team based on capacity and skillset.
• Act as the escalation point for the team and for clients on an operational level.
• Have knowledge and provide support on things like customs, FMC, dangerous goods etc.
• Hold 1-2-1s and performance reviews with the team.
• Provide operational cover during annual leave and busy periods.
• Complete operational tasks when needed.
• Review suppliers, carriers and providers to identify improvement.
• Highlight ‘problems’ such as recurring issues or damage. Leads and steps in when needed on those shipments.
• Lead by example and be present in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Experience & Qualification

• Minimum 7 years’ experience within logistics.
• Strong knowledge of air, sea and road freight operations.
• Experience with customs procedures and clearance requirements.
• Knowledge of DG, temp controlled shipments.
• Strong planning, organisation and workload management skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership.
• Can work in a fast-paced operational team and company.

Desirable

• Experience using Boxtop software.
• Knowledge of FMC/AMS/ISF requirements and compliance.
• Previous experience managing operational teams.
• Dangerous Goods and Li battery trained/certification.
• Experience managing operational KPIs and reporting.
