Import Airfreight Clerk – Job Information

Medium to Large Sized Freight Forwarder is expanding its Air Import Operations team at their Slough facility. This role involves managing the full end‑to‑end Air Import process, ensuring compliant, efficient, and customer‑focused handling of inbound shipments. Full training will be provided on internal systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinating inbound air freight shipments from global origins, ensuring timely arrival and smooth operational flow
• Liaising with airlines, ground handlers, overseas partners, and hauliers to track, monitor, and manage incoming cargo
• Processing all import documentation, including Air Waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists, Certificates of Origin, and any additional regulatory paperwork
• Completing Import Customs Declarations and ensuring full compliance with HMRC, CDS, and all relevant regulatory requirements
• Managing customs entries, including IPR, OPR, Home Use, Temporary Admission, and other customs regimes where applicable
• Providing regular updates to customers, ensuring they are informed of shipment status, delays, or issues requiring attention
• Arranging final‑mile deliveries, coordinating with hauliers and internal teams to meet customer deadlines
• Handling a variety of cargo types, including general cargo, time‑critical shipments, and specialist or high‑value movements
• Raising invoices and managing billing, ensuring accurate cost capture and timely financial processing
• Maintaining accurate records, updating internal systems, and ensuring all documentation is filed in line with company and regulatory standards
• Supporting audits, compliance checks, and internal process reviews
• Identifying opportunities for process improvements and contributing to best‑practice development within the Air Import department
• Responding to customer inquiries, offering expert guidance on routing, customs requirements, costs, and documentation
