Multimodal Export Operator – Role Overview
This Medium-Sized Freight Forwarder is recruiting for an export‑oriented individual to join our multimodal operations team. This is a genuinely varied end‑to‑end role covering Air, Sea and Road exports. You will manage shipments from quotation through to final invoicing, working across a wide range of commodities, routings and customer requirements.
A strong understanding of Air Export is essential. Training will be provided in Road and Sea exports, with additional development in Air for the right candidate to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Shipment Handling Manage the full operational cycle for export shipments across air, sea and road.
- Quoting & Commercial Assessment Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for a wide range of export enquiries.
- Customer & Agent Communication Liaise with shippers, consignees and overseas agents to coordinate requirements and maintain excellent service levels.
- Collection Coordination Arrange appropriate collection services, selecting the correct vehicle type and ensuring timely pickup.
- Carrier Booking Book carriers across all modes, ensuring compliance with customer expectations and operational requirements.
- Export Documentation Prepare and issue all required export documents, including:
- Air Waybills
- Bills of Lading
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Certificates of Origin
- Any additional mode‑specific or destination‑specific documents
- Customs Compliance Complete export customs entries accurately and in line with UK regulations.
- Tracking & Monitoring Track freight movements proactively, provide updates, and resolve any issues during transit.
- Invoicing & File Closure Ensure timely invoicing and accurate job costing upon completion of each movement.

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Solid understanding of Air Export operations
- Experience handling export documentation and carrier bookings
- Ability to manage shipments end‑to‑end
- Strong communication skills with customers, carriers and agents
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, varied environment
Desirable
- Experience in Sea and/or Road exports
- Knowledge of export customs processes and systems
- Ability to quote independently and assess commercial viability
- Exposure to a wide range of commodities and destinations
Training & Development
